So, I've been playing music since the age of ten when I first picked up the violin. After two years of Suzuki training, I switched to guitar and have played, practiced and taught steadily for over thirty years now. Being comfortable on a variety of guitars (and basses,) has helped to keep me busy with many projects. from Nashville studios to concert stages all over New England, one night stands to 3 year residencies, I've tried to do a little bit of everything.
Along with leading the Amorphous Band, I appear often as a solo guitarist either with an archtop electric or a steel six string, as heard on my 2006 solo debut "Truth is..." Blues, jazz, folk and classical styles are all evident throughout the recording, which was done with a simple tube mic to stereo 2 track. The title itself is a reflection of the fact that this is the stripped down version of my music with nothing to hide. Which makes me sound guilty of something...
Some hightlights of my solo career have been playing on stages in support of Robert Cray and John Hiatt, w/Sonny Landreth, The Bad Plus, Johnny A. Harvey Reid, Denny Breau, Lincoln Meyers and others. An association with the Seacoast Guitar Society led to a slot on 2003's instrumental album and a series of shows that went with it.
I'm currently a resident of Barrington NH and teaching guitar and bass at Master's Music Academy in Bedford NH. Students can learn the spectrum of music theory, finger and flatpicking, recording and working with other musicians. Plans for opening a music school in the Seacoast NH area are underway with the announcement of a location and timeline to come in the near future. Check back soon!!
